Project type: Workspace for the UNSW Built Environment Department

Individual Project

Presentation skills utilised: SketchUp, Photoshop, AutoCAD

When completed: 3rd Year, Term 2

A workspace designed to meet the needs of UNSW’s Built Environment department both today and into the future using innovative forms and technology.

The design was inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, a pattern which occurs frequently in nature. Forms inspired by this sequence create a feeling of calmness, wellbeing and belonging from an immersion in nature. The design draws nature inside through natural curves and ratios, inviting flow. This environment maximises creativity and work productivity whilst simultaneously increasing motivation and the sense of empowerment. The forms and layout of the design maximise the sense of community.

The colours and materials reflect those found in nature, whilst avoiding the stereotypical use of greenery or the colour green.

The design focuses on 5 key spaces throughout the building which are identified by the coloured boxes and labels on the plans.
